Baptist Health began its Allied Health Scholars program in 2022 to offer financial support to students enrolled in critically needed disciplines at accredited academic institutions. Through this collaboration with United Way Miami, Baptist Health will expand its clinical program to continue offering employment opportunities for Miami-Dade County residents.

Jackson Health System’s academic programs have trained world-class healthcare professionals, and through funding provided by United Way Miami, individuals who seek new career opportunities in healthcare will have the opportunity to reskill or upskill and land a job in a high-demand field.

Miami Dade College has partnered with United Way Miami to provide scholarships for students and future professionals in the South Florida healthcare community. Through this partnership, eligible students will receive FREE tuition, books, fees, uniform and a stipend.

United HomeCare (UHC) is partnering with United Way Miami to offer employment opportunities with free training to qualified applicants for the care of older disabled adults through its Learn & Work Program leading to rewarding careers and a valuable pathway for aspiring caregivers to enter the growing home care industry.

Florida Power & Light (FPL) and the System Council U-4 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) have developed a centralized Basic Training Pilot. FPL and United Way Miami are partnering to offer this 6-month Pre-Apprenticeship Program for individuals looking to unlock a career as an Apprentice Line Specialist. This program consists of six months of formal training, including two weeks of on-the-job training experience. This is a great opportunity to become a skilled lineworker with the nation’s leading electric utility company.

Our partnership supports FMU’s Construction Trades Program, with a specific focus on electrical skills, providing eligible residents with the skills and resources to obtain a career in the electrical trades.

Barrington Irving Technical Training School (BITTS) and United Way Miami are partnering to elevate and transform opportunities in Miami-Dade County. BITTS supports a comprehensive technical skills program, offering specialized training in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations. This initiative provides Miami’s workforce with the necessary skills and resources to secure high-demand, well-paying jobs in the aviation industry, focusing on supporting low-income and transitioning populations.
